Skincare Routine

Hey Girl!

If you've been following me on Instagram over the past few months, then you know that I have been struggling with hormonal acne. Between my PCOS and then getting an IUD, my hormones went on a roller coaster. I had never really struggled with acne growing up other than the occasional pimple that would pop up, so this was completely new territory for me. After trying lots of products over the past few months, here are the ones that have worked the best for me.

First up lets talk about Makeup Remover. I have recently been using this Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-In-1 Brightening with Vitamin C to take off my makeup. It is so great for removing waterproof mascara too! Then I will go in with this CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser. This cleanser is AMAZING for getting a deep clean. There is no smell, which I love, and the Salicylic Acid is great for targeting acne. The acid even helps new ones from forming. #bless

Next up, let's talk about Hyaluronic Acid. This stuff is great for adding hydration and moisture to your skin. I love putting it on right after my cleanser, making my skin feel so soft and hydrated. I love the CeraVe Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and I have been using this one lately, but the Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid is also really good and only $7! *I have recently started skipping this step because the serums I use have Hyaluronic Acid in them, but I still LOVE these products*

Now let's talk about serums. If you're anything like me, then you hadn't even thought about serums, until you needed them. I started using the DRMTLGY 24 Acne Serum when my acne got to the point I could barely put on makeup. This serum has worked wonders in helping with active breakouts! I was originally using it all over my skin, but that led to me having tons of dry spots. So I started using it as a spot treatment instead. That's the hard part of using acne products, you're drying out the acne....and the good skin at the same time. It's so frustrating, but I think I found the holy grail trio to help with that. I have been using the Maelove Serums Trio after my acne serum and this has made my skin feel like normal again! I start with the Hydrator, then use the NIA 10 Calming Serum, and finish off with the Glowmaker. I have been using this trio for the past three weeks and I have seen such a transformation in my skin!

Last but certainly not least, we need to moisturize. I start with a hydrating eye cream. I have been using this Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel and it is so soothing.  I use two different face moisturizers, depending on the time of day. I love the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion for in the morning. It's a lightweight lotion for combination skin. It feels so refreshing right before doing my makeup for the day. At night I use the Tula 24-7 Moisture Hydrating Day and Night Cream. This moisturizer is a little heavier and perfect for right before bed. I love how clean this moisturizer smells, it reminds me of the lotion my grandmother used *que sappy moment*.

And there ya have it! That's my new and updated skincare routine with the products I have found to help me the most. I also have switched from a cotton pillowcase to a silk one. I'm not sure if that has affected my breakouts, but it is nice to lay down on a cool pillow after cleansing your skin, hehe. Just remember that it could take a while to find the perfect products for your skin type and what worked for me, might not work for you. Regardless, you are beautiful with acne, without acne, and with or without makeup. Loving yourself fully is the first step in having true beauty. That sounds so cheesy I know, but it's true.
